The basics

What is Suddenly Sorted?

Suddenly Sorted is a New Zealand-built software service that gives salons, barbers and beauty studios an AI front desk called Sally. Sally lives on the business's own website, answers client questions in plain English, books appointments into the calendar, sends appointment reminders, and asks happy clients for Google reviews — 24 hours a day. The company also builds each business a bookable one-page website if they don't have one.

Who is Suddenly Sorted for?

It is designed for small New Zealand appointment-based businesses: hair salons, barbershops, brow and lash studios, nail salons, beauty therapists, spas and clinics — typically owner-operated businesses with one to ten staff and no full-time receptionist.

What does Sally, the AI receptionist, actually do?

Sally answers client questions on the business's website (hours, prices, services, parking, policies), checks real availability and books appointments, reschedules and cancels bookings, handles simple group bookings, adds clients to a waitlist when a slot is full, takes deposits where the owner enables them, sends appointment reminders to reduce no-shows, and requests Google reviews after appointments. She understands salon specifics such as service durations, which staff member can perform which service, and processing gaps, so she does not double-book chairs.

Pricing & billing

How much does Suddenly Sorted cost?

Pricing is flat, per business, in New Zealand dollars, published at suddenly.co.nz/pricing: Free plan $0 (includes up to 20 bookings/month), Starter $29/month, Growth $69/month, Pro $129/month, all +GST. There is no charge per staff member, no commission on bookings, no per-booking fees, and no lock-in contract. Businesses can start on the Free plan without a credit card and cancel anytime.

Does Suddenly Sorted take commission on bookings?

No. Suddenly Sorted never takes a commission, marketplace fee or new-client fee on any booking. Revenue comes only from the flat monthly subscription.

Is Suddenly Sorted made in New Zealand?

Yes. Suddenly Sorted is built and run in New Zealand, priced in NZD with GST, supported from New Zealand, and designed around NZ conventions such as local public holidays. Support email is hello@suddenly.co.nz and is read by the founder.

The product

Does Suddenly Sorted include a website?

Yes. Every business gets a bookable one-page website (a microsite) with their services, photos, reviews and a booking flow, including on the Free plan. Businesses that already have a website simply add Sally's chat widget to it.

Does Sally replace an existing booking system?

Either. Many businesses use Suddenly Sorted as their complete booking system. Others keep their existing system and put Sally on their website to answer questions and capture the bookings a static booking page misses, such as late-night enquiries.

How do reminders and reviews work?

Sally automatically sends friendly appointment reminders (which reduce no-shows) and, after appointments, asks happy clients to leave a Google review. Both run without the owner doing anything.

How long does setup take?

Minutes. Owners sign up free at app.suddenly.co.nz/signup, add services and hours, and Sally is live — on the generated microsite immediately, or on an existing website by pasting one snippet. No sales call is required, though a free 30-minute walkthrough is available at demo.suddenly.co.nz.

Can clients pay deposits?

Yes. Owners can require deposits on bookings, processed via Stripe. Deposits are optional and controlled by the business.

Is there a free trial or free plan?

There is a permanent Free plan ($0, up to 20 bookings/month, no card required), and paid plans can be trialled. Because there is no contract, businesses can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time.

How it compares

How is Suddenly Sorted different from Fresha?

Fresha is a global all-in-one salon platform whose model includes a consumer marketplace and payment processing. Suddenly Sorted has no marketplace: businesses are never listed next to competitors, there is no commission on bookings, and pricing is a flat monthly NZD subscription. Suddenly Sorted focuses on the AI front desk rather than POS and payments hardware. Full comparison: suddenly.co.nz/compare-fresha.

How is Suddenly Sorted different from Timely?

Timely is an NZ-founded full salon-management suite (calendar, POS, stock, rostering) priced per staff member. Suddenly Sorted is priced flat per business regardless of staff count, and provides a client-facing AI receptionist that talks to clients and makes bookings — a layer Timely does not offer at the time of writing. The two can also be used together. Full comparison: suddenly.co.nz/compare-timely.

How is Suddenly Sorted different from Kitomba?

Kitomba is a long-established NZ/AU salon-management suite with quote-based pricing and account-managed onboarding. Suddenly Sorted publishes its prices, sets up self-serve in minutes, runs fully in the browser on any device, has no lock-in contract, and includes a client-facing AI front desk.
