The after-hours bookings you're capturing (and how to see them)

A good chunk of your bookings come in after you've shut for the day. The trouble is you rarely see them as their own thing. Here's why that money hides, and how one page in your dashboard brings it into the light.

10:47 pm — still booking. business hours after hours Cut · 11:02 pm Colour · 9:31 pm

Picture a Tuesday. You finished at six, locked up, went home. By the time you're back behind the chair the next morning there are two new bookings in the calendar that you didn't lift a finger for. One came in at 9:40pm, one at 7am before the coffee was on. Nice surprise. But here's the thing most owners never stop to work out: how much is that actually worth across a month, and is it growing? That's the money you can't see, and it's usually bigger than you'd guess.

Why you never see the after-hours bookings

When a booking lands while you're closed, it just quietly slots into your calendar alongside everything else. By morning it looks like any other appointment. There's no flag that says "this one came in at 10pm on a Sunday, when your old setup would have sent it to voicemail." So the win disappears into the day-to-day. You feel busy, the book looks full, but you've got no read on how much of that fullness is work your website did for you after dark.

It matters because after-hours is exactly when a lot of people decide to book. Not at their desk on a workday, but on the couch at night or first thing on a day off. We've written before about why your website should take bookings 24/7. The flip side of catching those enquiries is being able to see them, so you know the round-the-clock thing is actually pulling its weight.

In short The bookings that come in while you're closed are some of your easiest wins, and the ones you're least likely to notice. If you can't see them, you can't tell whether they're growing or quietly drying up.

What "after hours" really means here

It's worth being precise, because a vague number isn't much use. After hours means a booking that was created outside your opening hours. A booking made at 9pm on a Sunday counts. One made mid-morning on a working day doesn't, even if the appointment itself is for next week. So the figure is genuinely the bookings that arrived when your doors were shut, which is the bit you'd otherwise have lost or had to chase.

The dollar value is an estimate, worked out from the prices of the services booked. It's a confident estimate, not an invoice. The closer your service prices and opening hours are to reality, the sharper it gets.

How the Insights page surfaces it

Inside Suddenly Sorted there's a page called Insights, on every plan, with nothing to set up. Open it and the numbers are already there. The first band is the one to enjoy: while you were closed. It adds up the estimated value of the bookings Sally captured after hours, alongside how many chats she handled, how many turned into bookings, and the reminders and review requests that went out for you. That's the hidden money, finally on the table where you can see it.

Below that, a row of growth cards gives you an honest read on whether things are actually moving:

You can flick the whole page between the last 7, 30 or 90 days, or this month, and every figure updates, including the comparison to the stretch before. So a jump or a dip is a real shift, not just a longer window.

Where the next bit of money is

The last section turns the numbers into things you can actually act on:

Your busy and quiet windows

A simple chart of your week so you can spot the soft afternoons. Quiet windows are the natural place to point a promotion or open up a bit more availability.

Regulars worth winning back

Clients who used to come in regularly and have gone quiet. They're prime candidates for a warm rebooking nudge before they drift somewhere else.

Your top services

What people book the most, so you know what's pulling its weight and what's worth featuring out front.

None of this asks you to become a numbers person. It's the plain-English version of "is this thing working?", with a short list of where to look next. The after-hours dollars are the headline, but the quiet-window and win-back pointers are where a lot of owners find their next few bookings.

If you're already running Suddenly Sorted, open Insights in your dashboard and have a look at what came in while you were closed last month. If you're not yet, that's a fair reason to start: a New Zealand-made assistant that takes bookings around the clock, then shows you exactly what it caught.
