Embed the widget on your website

Add the chat widget to any website with a single copy-and-paste snippet, or skip the website entirely and use your hosted booking page.

The widget is a small chat bubble that sits in the corner of your site. Visitors tap it to ask questions and book, 24/7. You add it with one snippet.

Copy your snippet and customise the quick-reply buttons.

Get your snippet

In your dashboard, open Embed widget. You'll see your personalised snippet (it already contains your business ID). Click Copy code. It looks like this:

<!-- Suddenly Sorted chat widget -->
<script>
  window.SuddenlySortedConfig = {
    apiUrl: "https://widget.suddenly.co.nz",
    businessId: "your-business-id"
  };
</script>
<script src="https://widget.suddenly.co.nz/widget.js"></script>

Where to paste it

Paste the snippet just before the closing </body> tag on your website. The dashboard includes step-by-step guides for the most common builders:

After pasting, publish your site and the chat bubble appears. Use Try your assistant in the dashboard to test it first.

Quick-reply buttons

On the Embed widget page you can customise the tappable quick-reply buttons shown when the chat opens, up to four, each with a label and the message it sends. Leave them empty to use the defaults (Book now, Prices, Opening hours, Services).

No website? Share your booking-page link instead

You don't need a website at all. Every account gets a free hosted booking page, a dedicated link customers can visit to book.

Find it under Settings ▸ Business setup in the dashboard, where you can copy the link, set your custom URL, preview the page, and download the QR code.

Two ways to share, one assistant Use whichever fits, or both at once: paste the one-line embed snippet on your own website, and/or share your hosted booking-page link (yoursalon.suddenly.co.nz) for Instagram bios, QR codes and texts. They share the same assistant and calendar.

The "Book" tab — for customers who'd rather tap than chat

Some people want to talk to someone. Others just want to book and get on with their day. Where it's switched on, your widget shows two tabs at the top — Chat and Book — so the customer picks.

Book is a straight tap-through: service, stylist, time, details, done. No typing, no waiting for a reply. Stylist photos show on the picker, and a returning customer gets their usual offered first. There's a "Chat instead" link on every step if they change their mind.

Nothing to set up There's no toggle for this — we enable it for eligible accounts. It needs your services list filled in, and it's for widgets where chat is the front door: if your widget is set to send people straight to your booking page, it keeps doing that instead.
